Experiences from my first Interview with AI BOT - It is going to be Here and not a Fad : Why Tina’s Nudge Was Better Than Any Human's Judging Stare

It all started with an email. "Your initial interveiwing for the Teaching position will be conducted by our AI Bot for Social Good.I  had only 24 hours' notice to prepare for a purely technical interview, and this wasn't just a text chat—it was a live conversation where the bot could see and hear me. My mind raced: how do I maintain professional eye contact with an algorithm? Would it analyze my facial expressions or body language?

I braced myself for a cold, clinical assessment, but what happened next completely changed my view of AI in hiring.

The Setup: Video, Voice, and the Uncanny Valley

I logged in, and the bot appeared as Tina. Its voice was  naturally clear and filled up wih gentle feminity.

The presence of the camera, knowing the AI was processing not just my words but potentially my visual cues, added a layer of pressure. I spent the evening cramming, fully expecting the bot to be a relentless judge of my technical answers in a high-stakes, purely Linux-based environment.

The Technical Gauntlet and the Bot’s Helping Hand

The AI wasted no time, diving deep into technical questions related to shell scripting in Linux distributive servers, plagiarism detection, course management, learning management systems, and so on. The focus was laser-sharp and unforgivingly technical.

Then came the moment of truth. I hit a wall with a question about a Python-related cosing problem. I paused, collecting my thoughts and visibly searching for the right words.

Instead of moving on or marking the answer incorrect—as an impatient human might—the AI did something incredible. It provided a subtle conceptual nudge or rephrased the question, giving me more time to understand. It was an amazing feeling, like someonereally wanted me to get this job

It wasn't a pass/fail situation; it was a guided demonstration of competency. The AI was trying to help me show what I knew, rather than just testing my memory. My panic subsided, replaced by a sense of surprise and genuine appreciation.

Why I Now Welcome the AI Interview

This experience of nearly half an hour completely flipped my expectations. I went in dreading a cold encounter; I left feeling that the AI interview was actually more supportive than many human ones.

My key takeaway? Always welcome an AI robot interview. You will love it!

Here’s why I’m convinced:

  • Focus, Focus, Focus: The bot ignored fluff. It cut straight to the technical skills required for the teaching role,  making the interview highly relevant and efficient.

  • Supportive, Not Judgmental: The AI’s patience and ability to gently redirect me on a difficult question felt revolutionary. Its silence wasn't judgmental—it was just waiting for the correct input.

  • Reduced Bias: Knowing the bot was following the exact same script for every candidate, and that the only metric was my technical response (not a human's unconscious bias about my speaking style or nervousness), felt inherently fair.

Conclusion: A Surprising Step Forward in Technical Hiring

While I still wait for the final feedback, my first AI video interview was a powerful revelation. It demonstrated that AI in technical recruitment can be about more than just efficiency; it can be about providing a focused, consistent, and surprisingly helpful candidate experience.

The future of hiring is here, and it might just be the best way to prove your technical competence.

The Hybrid Future: AI like TINA provides scale and objectivity. The human committee provides nuance and empathy. Both are necessary.

Final Call to Action: "I gave TINA my best professional performance. I hope the committee sees beyond the screen and recognizes the dedicated, excited employee ready to start work. My finger is crossed, not for the algorithm, but for the human signature."

Final Thoughts: I would have loved TINA to give a verdict immediately...then AI would has been revolutionized, but TINA  too depends on  her human counterparts as her human counterparts do on her

What TINA said to me was amazing,no I am just kidding...
