The Verdict : My UGC NET Management Score & The Road to Professorship
The provisional answer key for the UGC NET December 2025 cycle is out, and the "matching game" has finally concluded. For me, this attempt was specifically focused on qualifying for Assistant Professor and not PhD eligibility, and the numbers look to be at borderline.
📊 The Final Tally
After checking my response sheet against the official NTA key, here is my standing:
Final Score: 184 / 300( Section 1-74, Section 2 -110)
Percentage: 61.33%
Since I am focused solely on Assistant Professor eligibility rather than JRF, this score feels so - so and in the world of Management (Subject 17), when the paper was moderate - tough, crossing the 60% threshold is a major milestone.
🔍 Will 184 Make the Cut for Assistant Professor?
Looking back at the last few cycles, the cutoff for Assistant Professor (General Category) has typically settled between 170 and 184 until the last two cycle where it hovered around 192.
June 2024: 184 marks
Dec 2023: 170 marks
June 2023: 174 marks
Standing at 184, I am right at the benchmark of the most recent high-cutoff cycle. While it is a "borderline" situation, I still hope I may qualify especially if the difficulty level of this paper was slightly higher than last June and with god's grace . addition of some positive marks, once the answer key corrections have come and been finalised.
Final Thoughts: No Regrets
Qualifying for the NET isn't just about a certificate; it’s the gateway to many academia roles.
Now, the wait begins for the final results and the official cutoff list. Regardless of whether the final percentile shifts by a fraction, I’m glad I put the last two month efforts into mastering the vast Management syllabus and scored above 61%. Whether the NTA curve falls in my favor or not, this journey has sharpened my understanding of the subject and prepared me for the rigors of academia.
